This is a unique, first of its kind, cemetery in Second Life. Many people are finding all kinds of usefulness of this cemetery from burying their avatar as they leave Second Life to ditching a stalker by burying their “stalked” avatar and creating a new account.
Others have found it useful for creating memorials for those they knew in Second Life that no longer log on or have lost contact with, and still others yet, create a memorial for real life deaths of loved ones and friends.
Some folks just come to chat and listen to the music and see whats new or interesting as the cemetery grows. Visitors can collect information from the plots of those resting peacefully and to the surprise of many, some of the deceased have left some of their treasures from their own inventory in their burial plot. Visitors can click on any grave plot for the contents of “bequeathed” items.
There is a website for this location in Second Life for those that want to comment, or participate on the blog, or just get the news of developmet and events for the cemetery. Second Afterlife Cemetery
To get there just click this slurl Second Afterlife Cemetery, Saeneul (96, 238, 92) for a teleport to the cemetery. (you should have Second LIfe running and logged in for that to work)
Here are some snapshots of the location and as you can see the fog has an interesting effect. The lower level doesn’t have any “weather” associated with it, but it is very well created and laid out.

As an amateur genealogist, I think it is a fascinating idea - much can be done here - For myself, I’d like to go on a tombstone scratching event and have the famous figure and / or relative talk to me…W00T - I’ll be sure to check out your sim…I’ve added my “blogger” as “website”, and will add you to my blogroll in WordPress…very cool, indeed!
